Working above suspended ceilings

Data cabling is frequently installed in the void above suspended ceilings, requiring operatives to work at height on podium steps, platform steps, or hop-up platforms. The RAMS must apply the WAH 2005 hierarchy, specify that ceiling tiles are not used as working platforms, identify the load ratings of any access equipment, and describe how the ceiling grid is protected from damage during installation.

Fire compartment penetration sealing

Any cable that passes through a fire-rated wall, floor, or ceiling must be sealed with an approved intumescent fire stopping system. The RAMS must identify all fire compartment boundaries, require that penetrations are sealed by a competent person, and confirm the fire stopping product is tested and approved for the specific cable type and opening dimensions (typically ETA or third-party approved systems).
